Course Objectives The course is designed to obtain a comprehensive understanding of space as a cultural phenomenon and to focus on the anthropological view of production and experience of space with specific reference to social relations and cultural constructions of built forms, place making and urban form.
Course Description This course brings together social and cultural theories and research on social spaces and spatializations, everyday rhythms and cultural topologies at the interface of urban geography, sociology, cultural studies, studies of time-space, architectural theory, ethnography, media and urban studies.

The focus is on social spaces, construction and production of space, gender, everyday life, and geographies of cultural representation.
Course Outcomes * identifing basic concepts, themes and theoretical approaches regarding urban space;
* evaluating key theoretical approaches in the cultural analyses of cities and urban life;
* developing comprehensive knowledge of the culture of cities, physical structures, the diversity of urban identities, and various urban social issues;
* critical analysis of local culture and urban space within a global context.
