Course Objectives 1. To have general knowledge about sportswear textiles and the sector.
2. To have knowledge about sports clothing design, material selection, fabric structures and
production technologies.
3. To investigate functional, comfort and moisture management properties of sportswear.
4. To examine the developed sportswear for different application areas
Course Description Introduction to textiles in sport, Market overview. Key-trends in sportswear design. Biomimetic approach to the design of textiles for sportswear. Material requirements for the design of performance. High performance and high functional fibers and textiles for sportswear. Smart and intelligent textiles and fibers in sportswear. Fabric structures for sportswear. Knitting technology for seamless sportswear. Production and joining techniques for sportswear. Functional finishes for sportswear. Wearable sensors for sports performance. Physiological strain and comfort in sportswear. Moisture management properties and its importance. Sportswear for biking and motor sports. Outdoor and cold weather sports clothing. Swimsuits and diving clothes. Indoor sportswear. Functional sport footwear. Protective headgear for sports.
