Course Objectives
To give information on the measurement of physical and mechanical properties of soil
To learn how all basic soil mechanics laboratory experiments be done
To teach how a soil laboratory report is written
To teach how to conduct experiments, collect data, analyse and interpret the results
Course Description
This course covers the soil experiments done in soil mechanics laboratory. For this purpose, experiments to determine the physical and mechanical properties of soil are explained and conducted. The tests are done on disturbed and undisturbed soil samples.
Course Outcomes
To develop an understanding of how soil behaves under stress and over time
How soil properties are determined, what these values mean in terms of soil behavior and how these values range.
Conduct soil classification experiments
Determine the shear strength of soil
Determine the compaction properties of soil
Pre-requisite(s)
