Course Objectives
• Advanced working principles of the traditional relational database management systems
• Design principles of more recent data systems such as distributed data processing systems for big data (e.g., Map/Reduce, Spark, etc.), NoSQL systems (e.g., Document stores, key value stores, etc.).
• Query languages employed in distributed data processing systems (e.g., Pig, Hive, etc.).
