Course Objectives 1. To develop the skills to measure and record, assess damages of a historic structure, leading to survey, reconstitution and restoration projects and reports related to them
2. To establish the basic professional setup to carry out historic, technical investigations and develop proposals for the conservation and re-use of a historic structure
Course Description Case study: the survey and documentation of the present condition of a historic monument with drawings and photographs; historic survey and analysis in terms of history of art and architecture; the restitution of the original building; the stages of its transformations through time; structural deformation and material deterioration characteristics; conservation problems in terms of materials; the discussion and evaluation of various methods of intervention such as cleaning, strengthening, renovation, etc. for the studied monument.
