Course Objectives
To examine how to model telecommunication and similar systems in various traffic states.
To design telecommunication and similar service systems economically based on the gathered information.
To be able to foresee system bottlenecks, to analyze existing systems and to use resources more efficiently.
Course Description
Traffic characterization and basic concepts. Arrival and departure processes. Markov models. Single and multi-server loss and delay systems. Quality of service, congestion and throughput analysis. Limited and unlimited traffic sources. Modeling of repeated attempts. Various applications.
