NSE 510E - Model Organisms in Bionanotechnological Research

Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to provide in-depth knowledge of fundamentals of the bionanotechnology, the properties of model organisms and their applications in the field of bionanotechnology.

Course Description

This course will focus on bionanotechnology, where the biological world takes place as an inspiration or ultimate goal. In the course, we will investigate the characteristics of model organisms (selected species widely studied to understand the biological process) such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Caenorhabditis elegans, Drosophila melanogaster, Mus musculus etc. used in bionanotechnological research. A project assignment will enable students to conduct scientific research and make a presentation on the specific use of model organisms.
