NSE 607E - Elec.,Diel.&Mag.Pro.of Nanom
Course Objectives
This one semester course aims to introduce students the understanding of measurements and evaluation of electrical, dielectric and magnetic properties of nanomaterials with the emphasis on electrorheological (ER) and magnetorheological (EMR) systems. The mathematical models that express the dependencies of affecting parameters such as frequency and temperature on electrical, dielectric and magnetic properties of nanomaterials will be given. Applications of such nanosystems will be explained.
Course Description
Introduction, definitions and importance of electrical, dielectric and magnetic properties of nanomaterials. Electrical properties, Dielectric properties of nanomaterials, Electromagnetic phenomena, magnetic properties, nanomagnetics. Piezoelectric, pyroelectric and ferroelectric nanomaterials. Ferro fluids (magnetofluids), electrorheological (ER) fluids, electromagnetorheological (EMR) fluids. Nanofiber fabrication by electrospinning: electrical, dielectric and magnetic properties of nanofibers. Effects of nanomaterials with dielectric and magnetic properties on human and environment. The outline can be modified during the course of semester as need arises.
