Course Objectives
1. Examination of definitions and methods related to sample preparation, grain characterization, and fluid mechanics in mineral processing
2. Examination of advanced techniques replacing conventional equipment and methods in mineral and solid fossil fuel preparation & beneficiation.
3. Examination of new developments, and techniques regarding special topics in mineral processing
4. Recognition of novel approaches replacing conventional mineral processing applications based on special topics.
Course Description
Examination of new methods and equipment for the preparation/beneficiation of ores; e.g., physical, physicochemical, and chemical processing. Seminars by students on selected topics in advanced beneficiation of ores, precious metals, and electronic wastes.
Course Outcomes
1. Explain advanced methods and technologies for the processing of metallic and industrial minerals.
2. Explain advanced methods and technologies for the preparation of solid fossil fuels.
3. Compare differences produced by the application of novel approaches instead of conventional mineral processing routes.
4. Learn the effective use of computer applications in the design and operation of mineral processing circuits.
5. Evaluate the economical and technical benefits of novel methods and equipment rather than the use of conventional tools in mineral processing.
