Course Description

Basic principle in two dimensional image processing: Two dimensional signals, raster graphic screen. Two dimensional imaging methods in medicine: Computer tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MR), X ray imaging, ultrasound, positron emission tomography (PET). Enhancement and restoration of medical images. Image segmentation techniques. Compression of medical images. Analysis and classification of medical images. Basic concepts in three dimensional image processing: Volumetric image representation, interpolation, surface rendering. Virtual reality in medicine.
