Course Objectives
[1]To introduce the luminous and thermal effects of the sun, [2]To introduce the methods to benefit and to protect from the sun, [3]To introduce and discuss the national and international scientific studies, applications, computer programs, standards, etc. related with the subject.
Course Description
Basic information on the luminous effect of the sun, solar angles in relation with the solar position throughout the year and the day, meteorological data about the sun, daylight calculation methods which consider the effect of the sunlight, advantages and disadvantages of sunlight on buildings and in rooms, glare caused by sunlight and glare evaluation methods, analyse of sun control devices and solar glasses from the viewpoint visual comfort, effects of direct sunlight in designing of windows and roof apertures, design of atrium and courtyards.
