Course Objectives The objective of the molecular biology course is to presenting the analysis of gene structures and functions at the molecular level. Molecular biology and genetic background will be gained to the students coming from different disciplines
Course Description Key events, persons and experiments in history of molecular biology and genetics, structure and properties of nucleic acids, gene and genome structure of prokaryote and eukaryote, molecular mekanizms of gene transcription, translation and DNA replications, mechanisms of protein localization, gene regulatory mechanisms, prokaryotic and eukaryotic kromozomal structures
Course Outcomes M.Sc./Ph.D. students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skill and competency in the following subjects;

I. Key events, persons and experiments in history of molecular biology and genetics
II. Prokaryotic and eukaryotic gene and genome structures
III. Structure and properties of nucleic acids
IV. Molecular mechanisms of protein synthesis
V. Gene regulatory mechanisims
VI. Molecular mechanisms of DNA replications
VII. Prokaryotik and eukayotic kromozom structures, kromozome packaging: Chromatin and nucleosomes
