GEO 201E - Cartography I

Course Objectives

This lecture aims to execute concrete applications of fundamental knowledge, to improve spatial thinking and critical reasoning of students on all kind of maps design, production and map use by using theoretical information of cartography.

Course Description

This lecture covers basic cartographic rules (map object classification, generalization, symbolization, etc.) for topographic and thematic map design. Develops critical thinking on maps and design of maps by using different tools of cartography. Discussion on design medium like Internet, web, screen map, paper and any printing
materials.
