Course Objectives 1. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) use advances in information technology. It is aimed to establish the relationship between the Information Systems used in unique areas with GIS and the differences will be mentioned.

2. Information technologies and GIS standards and organizations will be mentioned and skills will be improved in software databases and CAD systems.
Course Description The course includes GIS and related standards, organizations, database systems and software, GIS applications in related disciplines and purposes.
Course Outcomes 1. The ability to understand the relationship between the development of geographic information systems and information technologies and to compare other information systems from different perspectives,
2. Ability to apply developed methods and models for information system standards and databases,
3. Ability to manage and design analytical, model-based and empirical research and inquiry, to interpret critically and to make valid judgments,
4. To be able to prove effective functionality, effective written, verbal, graphic communication and working skills in a national and international context to be a member and leader of a team consisting of different disciplines and levels.
Pre-requisite(s) A project work which spread about the whole semester will be handed. Submission of HW is the final exam requirement.
