Course Objectives 1. Understanding historicist approaches in architectural history;
2. Examining the concepts of old and new in architectural history;
3. Understanding the bases of historicist architecture in today’s architecture.
Course Description The concept of historicism, The old-new relationship in architectural history, history in Early Modern ages architecture, Industrial Revolution and history, historicist attitudes in the 19th century architecture, the rejection of historic styles in the early 20th Century architecture, the relationship between Modern Architecture and history, post-modernist approaches, history in today’s architecture.
Course Outcomes 1. To understand the impacts and importance of historicist attitudes in history of architecture;
2. To understand the emergence and development of the relationship between old and new throughout history;
3. To understand the use of historical forms and styles in architecture in the 20th Century;
4. To understand the basis of employing historicist approaches in today’s architecture.
