Course Objectives
After completing the course the student
knows the basic principles and terms related to NMR spectroscopy and realizes the possibilities of NMR spectroscopy in analyzing the structures of molecules.
is aware of the principles on NMR sample preparation.
knows chemical shift and factors influencing on it.
is able to analyze first-order coupling patterns.
Is able to recognize non-first order coupling patterns
knows how to choose the most reasonable NMR experiment(s) for each structural analysis in their research.
is able to analyze simple 1D and 2D NMR spectra.
Course Description
Basic concepts of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, Sample preparation for NMR, chemical shift and factors influencing on it, spin-spin coupling, most common 1D- (APT, DEPT, INEPT) and 2D- (COSY, TOCSY, NOESY, HSQC, HMBC, ADEQUATE ve INADEQUATE) NMR techniques, 1D- 2D- Spectral interpretation exercises.
