Course Objectives . 1. Definition of coastal natural system components,
2. Evaluation of coastal area management in sustainable ecology perspective,
3. The role of coastal structures in coastal area management.
Course Description .Description of coastal zones. Determination of boundaries, Description of inner and outer parameters. General aims and organization of coastal zone management, organizational need and continuity conditions. Sustainable development concepts. Calculation methods. Environmental effects of coastal structures. Methods for monitoring. Data categorization. Coastal zones behavior as a system. NGOs. Globalization. Basin management. Integrated coastal zone management.
Course Outcomes Upon succesful completion of this course, a student:
1. Will have an ability to define hydrodynamical, ecological and economical parameters of coastal areas.
2. Will be able to evaluate the coastal parameters in sustainable ecological development perspective.
3. Will be able to define the relationship and differences between sustainable management and coastal area management.
4. Will be able to determine effective coastal management tools.
5. Will be able to define the struggles in coastal area management and find best appropriate solutions for a future plan.
