MBM 613 - Optical Behavior of Thin Films
Course Objectives
In this course, topics such as electromagnetic theory, wave physics, reflection/transmission coefficients, single/multilayer dielectric coatings, reflective coatings, thin film production methods, thin film characterization techniques, optical properties of thin films, and thin film-based electronic, optical, and magnetic devices and their applications will be covered.
Course Description
This course covers electromagnetic theory, wave physics, reflection/transmission coefficients, single and multilayer dielectric coatings, reflective coatings, thin film fabrication methods, thin film characterization techniques, and the design and applications of thin film-based electronic, optical, and magnetic devices. The aim of the course is to provide students with an understanding of the fundamental scientific and engineering principles related to the structure, properties, processing, and performance of thin film systems, and to apply this knowledge in solving design problems through material and/or process selection.
