MAD 506 - Rock-Soil Slope Stability

Course Objectives

1) Studies of the theories of slope stability calculations,
2) Case studies for rock and soil slope stability problems in open pit mining,
3) Embankment methods for slope stability problems,
4) Project studies for site and computer applications.

Course Description

Planning stability investigation projects, Basic mechanics of Rock and soil slope failure and related theories, Geological data collection and presentation, Kinematic analysis, engineering properties of rock and soil, Rock and soil stability analysis and design of slopes, Slope monitoring, Surface loads on discontinous rock and bearing capacity. Computer Applications in slope stability
