Course Objectives
1-Provide the students with a notion of optimization.
2-Give knowledge about and develop skills for the solution of parameter optimization problems.
3-Give knowledge about and develop skills for the solution of fonction optimization problems.
Course Description
Uni and multi-dimensional, constrained and unconstrained problems. Parameter optimization and mini-max theory. Non-linear programming and search techniques. Linear programming and the simplex method. Function optimization and the calculus of variations.
Course Outcomes
a.Knowledge about classical mini-max theory
b.An ability to formulate and solve nonlinear programming problems
c.An ability to formulate and solve linear programming problems
d.An ability to formulate and solve calculus of variations problems
e.An ability to apply direct solution methods of calculus of variations problems
