Course Objectives
1. To teach the characteristics of ship fires to improve the fire safety of ships
2. To teach the modeling techniques of the enclosure fires
3. To teach the characteristics of fires in the enclosures
Course Description
A qualitative description of enclosure fires; energy release rates; fire plumes and flame heights, pressure profiles and vent flows for well-ventilated enclosures; gas temperatures in ventilated enclosure fires; heat transfer in compartment fires; conservation equations and smoke movement; combustion products; computer modeling of enclosure fires; specific fire problems related with ships.
