Course Objectives
Lisans eğitiminde verilen Mukavemet ve yüksek lisans eğitiminde verilen Plak Teorisi derslerinde öğrenciler bir ve iki boyutlu yapı elemanları olan çubuklar ve plaklar ile çubuk ve plaklardan oluşan yapı sistemlerinin davranışları konusunda donatılmaktadırlar. İki boyutlu yüzeysel taşıyıcı sistemlerden olan kabukların ve kabuk sistemlerin dış etkiler altındaki davranışları incelenmektedir. Öğrencilerin çeşitli biçimli dönel kabukların dönel simetrik ve dönel simetrik olmayan yükler altında mambran çözümlemesi ile küresel ve silindirik kabukların eğilmeli çözümlemesini gerçekleştirecek duruma gelmesi amaçlanmaktadır.

Differential geometry of surfaces, Thin elastic shell theory, Basic assumptions, Internal force-displacement relationships, Differential equilibrium conditions for shells, Boundary conditions, Strain energy, Membrane theory for shells, Rotationally symmetrical loaded shells, Membrane solutions, Membrane solutions for some types of rotationally symmetric shells to general loads, Determination of displacement component, Flexural theory of shells, Flexural theory of rotationally symmetric shells, Axially symmetrical loaded circular cylindrical shells, Flügge, Donnell, Sanders approximations, Applications to spherical and cylindrical shells,
Geckeler approximation for steep shells, Shallow shells theories, Approximate solutions, Energy methods, Ritz ve Galerkin Methods, Numerical solution techniques, Finite Differences and Finite Elements Methods.
