Course Objectives
Electromagnetic radiation. Thermal radiation laws.Radiative processes and terminology in the earth- atmosphere system. Spectrum of absorption and emmision in the atmosfer. Absorption and scattering process in the atmosphere. Properties of infrared radiation and spectral distribution in the atmosphere. Radiative transfer equation and various solutions. Radiative transfer under cloudy conditions. Heating and cooling rates in the atmosphere. Solar radiation models. Radiative forcing and its results in the atmosphere.
Course Description
1. To learn radiative transfer equation and its approximate solutions
2. To better understand the radiative processes used in climate and weather prediction models
3. To understand the radiative flux model of the atmosphere and the parameters effecting
