KBM 502 - Designing and Planning of Coastal Structures

Course Objectives

1. To gain information on the functional design of breakwaters and jetties.
2. To provide current guidance and engineering procedures for the design of breakwaters.
3. To provide an effective structure at a minimal cost, with consideration given the social and environmental effects.

Course Description

This course provides current guidance and engineering procedures for the design of breakwaters and jetties. Works need to be made for the design of these structures and knowledge about functional design, selection of structure types, design of rubble mound structures, design of vertical wall structures, design of floating structures together with environmental impacts have been given.
