Course Objectives 1.Conception of the relation between geography, history, city and architecture.
2.Multidisciplinary analysis of historical buildings.
Course Description Elements shaping port cities in the Mediterranean: communication, stratifications of culture and multi-culture. Powers of the Mediterranean: port cities and architecture in the Roman Empire, in the Byzantine Empire, in the Ottoman Empire periods. Latins: port cities and architecture; Two focus in the history of Mediterranean: Venice and Istanbul. Analysis of a historical port city: urban history; public spaces, public buildings; religion architecture; examples of civil architecture.
