Course Objectives
1. To learn importance of assembly and assembly methods.
2. To understand DFA guidelines for part and product design.
3. To learn zero quality control and Poka-Yoke techniques.
4. To introduce basic kinematic concepts and mechanisms, power source and power transmission.
5. To give information about sealing, drainage and sealing and drainage elements.
Course Description
Importance of assembly in industrial design. Design for assembly (DFA). DFA guidelines for part and product design.
Course Outcomes
1. connect product design with assembly processes and equipment,
2. design parts and products that make assembly easier, cheaper and faster,
3. improve product quality, reliability and functionality,
4. use basic mechanisms and mechanical actuators in product design properly,
5. design products that meet sealing requirements,
6. take assembly process into consideration when they design a product that has compliant and moving parts.
