Course Objectives
• Students will gain deeper knowledge of management theories.
• Students will have an understanding of how management theories have evolved over time; the changing perspectives with regards to understanding organizations.
• Students will have the capacity to critically reflect on the recent management issues in relation with management theory.
• As most of the management theory has roots outside of our context, students will gain the ability to analye these internationally developed ideas in the local context.
Course Description
This course aims to develop the management knowledge of the participants through lectures and discussion. By looking at various theoretical approaches (trends in) to managerial issues organizations are faced with, participants will have an opportunity to look at these approaches through a critical perspective and deepen their understanding of management theories flourishing in the post-industrial societies, while thinking about the meaning of these approaches (translation into) in our local context.
