Course Objectives 1. To transfer knowledge of technique, craftsmanship and aesthetics in traditional arts to students.
2. To assist new works of the students to have new dimensions by this transfer.
Course Description Definition of traditional crafts, handcrafts and folklore and its relationship with art, design and technology; Layers of Anatolian civilizations (From prehistory up to today); Information on traditional Anatolian crafts and hand crafts; Types of traditional Anatolian crafts and hand crafts; Examples of the use of traditional crafts from contemporary products; Project development on transformation of elements of traditional crafts in order to make contemporary products; Presentation of projects.
Course Outcomes Students,
1. Familiarize with a general theoretical framework on folklore
2. Are informed about technique, craftsmanship and aesthetics of traditional crafts.
3. Learn how to access resources on traditional crafts to design new products.
4. Learn how to interpret these resources.
