Course Objectives 1. Transfer of knowledge on advances in environmental bioprocess technology,
2. Conveyance of know-how on applications of advanced bioprocess technologies in sustainable environmental practices
Course Description This course provides key themes and issues of advances in environmental bioprocess technology with an integrated perspective. Principles and applied technologies are conveyed in the fields of: Microbial conversion of organics; Production of chemicals by mixed microbial cultures; Biofilm processes and gradient systems; Microbial conversion of inorganics (N, P, S); Energy and fuel production by microbial systems.
Course Outcomes PhD students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skill, and competency in the following subjects;
I. advanced microbial processes of mixed substrate utilization and storage ,
II. transport processes in bioreactors (mass transfer resistance),
III. suspended and attached/aggregated growth systems,
IV. advances in microbial conversions of inorganics
V. microbial electricity and biofuel production
