Course Objectives Aerobik prosesler atıksu arıtımında en önemli adım olmalarına karşın, tasarım esasları yeterli açıklıkla anlaşılmamakta ve uygulamaya yansıtılmamaktadır. Bu ders aerobik proseslerin ve bunlarla birlikte kullanılan anoksik ve anaerobik süreçlerin temel kinetik ve stoikiyometrik ilişkilerinin organik karbon azot ve fosfor gideren sistemlere uygulanmasını ve değişik biyolojik arıtma düzenlerinin bu yaklaşımla belirlenen tasarım esaslarını aktaracaktır.
Course Description Fundamental data for system design; Wastewater characteristics; COD fractionation; Kinetic and stoichiometric data.

Design of activated sludge systems.

Basic design steps; Effluent quality; Reactor volume; Biomass; Excess sludge; Oxygen requirement; Mixing.

Design of continuous systems for organic carbon removal.

Nitrifying systems; Systems for nitrogen removal; Systems for phosphorus removal; Combined nitrogen/phosphorus removal.

Design of different continuous activated sludge configurations. Batch reactor technology. Design of SBR systems. Design of other aerobic systems; Aerated lagoons; Biofilters.
