Course Objectives
1. Acquire knowledge on robust control
2. Learn methods for the stability analysis of systems with parameter uncertainties in detail.
3. Learn and interpret important theorems and proof methods related to systems with parameter uncertainties.
4. Acquire knowledge on robust controller design for systems with parameter uncertainties.
5. Execute a small scientific research and present the results in written and oral form.
Course Description
Stability tests for polynomial families; gridding method, test sets, Bialas theorem, value set approach, Kharitonov theorem, the edge theorem, the mapping theorem, tree structured decomposition. Determining the degree of robustness; pole coloring, Barmish robustness function, Tyspkin-Polyak loci and the stability radius. Robustness analysis of control loops; the box theorem. Gamma stability. Design methods: robust PID controller design
Course Outcomes
1. To be able to stability analysis of a system with parameter uncertainties
2. To be able to evaluate the frequency response of an uncertain polynomial, and to be able to use the value set concept, which has an important role in this context, in solving new challenging problems.
3. To be able to classify an uncertain polynomial and propose an appropriate test set for the relevant class.
4. To be able to determine the degree of stability for a given uncertain polynomial.
5. To be able to design controllers for parametric uncertain systems under closed loop.
6. To be able to calculate all stabilizing P, PI, PD and PID controllers for a given linear time invariant system.
7. To be able to present the results of his/her scientific research written in the form of a scientific paper, and orally in the form of a conference.
