Course Objectives
To give students knowledge about the mechanics of railway vehicles
To give students knowledge about railway traction motors and their drivers
To give students knowledge about determination of traction motors and drivers for railway vehicles
Course Description
The mechanics of railway transportation. Determination of traction motors and drivers for railway vehicles, DC traction motors and their drivers, DC motor control systems, AC traction motors and their diver systems, Synchronous traction motor and control systems, Induction traction motors, Induction traction motor control systems, Railway vehicles supplied by AC grid, Control systems at diesel –electric traction vehicles, Traction motors and drivers for urban and low-floor vehicles, Traction motors and drivers for metro and light rail vehicles, Braking technologies, Uncommon types of electric railways.
Course Outcomes
Students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skill and competency in the following subjects;
