Course Objectives 1. To analyze the environmental sustainability in building/building elements
2. To explain approaches, tools and methods used in the environmental assessment
3. To assess existing building/building elements in terms of environmental sustainability
Course Description Introduction to sustainability in architecture, discussion of the environmental sustainability in building/building elements and the agents affecting it, discussion of environmental sustainability for different building typologies, explaining of the approaches, tools and methods used in assessing environmental sustainability, evaluation of the environmental sustainability of building/building elements by using the approaches, tools and methods discussed in previous classes of the course.
Course Outcomes I.Developing and intensifying knowledge in the area of the CKY program, based upon the competency in the undergraduate level
II.Assessing the specialistic knowledge and skill gained in the area of the environmental sustainability assessment with a critical view and directing one’s own learning process
III.Using the computer software together with the information and communication technologies efficiently and according to the needs of the environmental sustainability assessment
IV.Solving the problems faced in the environmental sustainability assessment by making use of the research methods
V.Using the expert-level theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the area of the environmental sustainability assessment
