Course Objectives To experience the versatility of using different kinds of analog and digital media in visualization for collecting and presenting research data and outcomes.
2 To use visualization as a tool as a research method.
3 To investigate different ways of visualization techniques for qualitative and quantitative data in design research.
4 To design a visual identity for the research project and any related printed material.
Course Description A practical and theoretical introduction to the visualization techniques.Practices of different types of media for visualization:drawing (in all forms, for example objective/analytical, expressive), diagrams, concept maps/mind maps, infographics, flow charts, storyboards, matrices, network displays and so on. Representation and Visualization in Design Research. Meaning in Design Research Visualization (visual narratives, visual patterns).Visual Notation. Various applications of digital tools in the visualization of research phases and outcomes. Data Visualization.
Course Outcomes Making use of visual expertize to externalize and communicate concepts through design research.
2 The structuring of a research project and the presentation of research outcomes via the application of various visualization techniques.
3 The ability to see, organize, and understand the ambiguity inherent in the design research process through various visualization studies.
4 Using digital technologies as a visualization tool for ideation and visualization in design research.
5 Creating effective presentations by crafting visual and verbal presentations that synthesize the concepts developed.
