Course Objectives The aim of the course is to learn the behavior of soil layers and soils during earthquakes, the problems related to the induced ground deformations and the effect of this to structures.
Course Description Vibration Principles: SDOF Systems, Two DOF Systems; Basics of Wave Propagation; Introduction to Earthquakes and Response Spectra; Dynamic Soil Parameters; Dynamic Earth Pressure; Dynamic Behavior of Cohesive Soils under Cyclic Loading; Liquefaction; Local Site Conditions, Site Amplification and Microzonation
Course Outcomes i.Grasping the inter-disciplinary interaction related to one’s area (knowledge).
ii.The ability to use the expert-level theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the area (skill).
iii.Developing new strategic approaches to solve the unforeseen and complex problems arising in the practical processes of one’s area and coming up with solutions while taking (Competence to work independently and take responsibility).
iv.Using the knowledge and the skills for problem solving and/or application in inter-disciplinary studies (Area Specific Competency)
