To teach the concepts, definitions and principles of maritime law,To introduce international trade agreements,To teach the legal definitions related to maritime transportation,To teach the general features of insurance law and insurance types.
Course Description
Introduction to Shipping Law. Ship identification and registration procedure.
Shipowners and association of shipowners. Captain's responsibilities. International conventions on maritime transport. A contract of carriage of passenger and luggage by sea. International Trade Agreements,contract of affreightment, layday, demmurage, bill of lading terms. Carrier's liability. Marine accidents/ collision. General average, salvage operations. Limitation of liability, compensation for oil pollution damage. Ship pawn, hypothec and compulsory execution. General features of insurance law and types of insurance. P&I Insurance,H&M Insurance, Freight Insurance
