Course Objectives
1. To teach the concepts, definitions, and principles of maritime law.
2. To introduce international trade agreements.
3. To teach the legal definitions related to maritimetransportation.
4. To teach the general features of insurance law and insurance types.
Course Description
Introduction to Shipping Law. Ship identification and registration procedure. Shipowners and the association of shipowners. Captainresponsibilities. International conventions on maritime transportation. A contract of carriage of passengers and luggage by sea.International Trade Agreements, contract of affreightment, layddemmurage, bill of lading terms. Carrier's liability. Marineaccidents/collision. General average, salvage operations.Limitation of liability, compensation for oil pollution damage.Ship pawn, hypothec, and compulsory execution. General features of insurance law and types of insurance. P&I Insurance,H&MInsurance, Freight Insurance
