Course Description
FundamentalsofElectronicscoursecoversstructureandoperatingprinciplesofelectroniccomponents.
Firstpartof thecoursefocusesonFundamentalsof solid-statephysics,propertiesof semiconductor
materials,currentcarriers,driftanddiffusionmechanisms.Secondpartofthecoursefocusesonthe
diode. Structureof thepn-junctiondiode, diodemodelsused incircuit analysis, diodecircuitsand
differentdiodetypesarecovered.Thirdpartofthelecturefocusesontransistors.Differenttransistor
types,theirbehavior,secondaryeffects,andtransistorcircuitsarecovered.Amplificationandthegain
concept,amplifiertypesandcircuitmodels,conceptualfunctionofthetransistorinamplificationwillbe
discussed.DCandthermalsensitivityanalysisoftransistor(BJT,MOSFET)circuitswillbeshown.Small
signalequivalentsofBJTandMOSFETaswellastheACanalysisofBJTandMOSFETamplifierswillbe
conducted.Gainandinput/outputresistanceofbasicamplifierstageswillbefoundandtheanalysisof
cascade(direct/capacitively-coupled)amplifiersisdone.Thecascodestructure,Darlingtonstructure,the
differential amplifiers, differential andcommon-modegains, commonmode rejection ratiowill be
explained. Current sources, active-loaded circuits, effect of non-idealities on thebehaviorwill be
discussed.Finally,thelinearandnonlinearapplicationsofidealandnon-idealoperationalamplifierswill
beconsidered.
