EEE 311E - Numerical Analysis with Python
Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to equip students with the fundamental knowledge and practical Python programming skills needed to solve scientific and engineering problems using numerical methods. The course covers systems of linear equations, interpolation and approximation, regression, root finding, numerical differentiation and integration, and initial value problems for ordinary differential equations. Students will develop the ability to select and implement appropriate numerical methods and evaluate the accuracy, convergence, and stability of numerical solutions.
Course Description
This course introduces numerical methods for solving scientific and engineering problems using Python. Topics include Python programming fundamentals and scientific computing libraries; direct and iterative methods for solving systems of linear equations; interpolation, spline functions, and least-squares regression; root-finding methods; numerical differentiation and integration; and numerical solutions of initial value problems for ordinary differential equations using Euler and Runge–Kutta methods. Emphasis is placed on implementing numerical algorithms in Python and examining their accuracy, convergence, and stability.
