Course Objectives Improving students’ communicative competence in a foreign language while raising their awareness with regard to different aspects of culture in various countries
Course Description Language, education, daily life and customs, food and drink, science and technology, sports and music as elements of culture; reading, listening, speaking, debating on a variety of cultural elements; writing comparison/contrast essays on various cultural elements from a cross-cultural perspective
Course Outcomes The students who complete the course successfully will be able to:
1. Analyze written, audio and audio-visual authentic material on different aspects of culture
2. Synthesize information from a variety of authentic materials on different aspects of culture
3. Assess critically any form of authentic material on an aspect of culture
4. Write a comparison/contrast essay on a specific topic in culture based on synthesized information
5. Produce grammatically accurate and meaningful spoken language on a different aspect of culture
