Course Objectives 1. Enable students to express themselves using appropriate discourse strategies in written and spoken communication
2. Develop the 4 Cs (Critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity) of 21st Century Learning, which are core skills that the students will need in their academic and social lives
3. Enhance students’ awareness regarding Sustainable Development Goals
4. Improve students’ collaboration skills in multidisciplinary groups
5. Develop associated academic practices and soft skills, such as goal-setting, self-reflection and time management
Course Description ING 100 is a course of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) that will help students develop their English language skills through 21st century core skills- the 4 Cs (critical-thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity) and United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course satisfactorily can:
1. Use key concepts related to campus life,
2. Use key concepts related to Sustainable Development Goals,
3. Analyse texts using various reading strategies,
4. Take notes using different listening strategies,
5. Prepare poster presentations and give oral presentations,
6. Write reflective papers based on what they have learned,
7. Collaborate in group work,
8. Use sources accurately and effectively avoiding plagiarism.
Pre-requisite(s) Passing the ITU SFL English Proficiency Exam with a score of 60-74BT
or the TOEFL iBT / TOEFL iBT Home Edition* with a score of 72 – 90 or PTE Academic with a score of 55 - 74
