This course will provide an introduction to the theory of transport phenomena in biological systems. A systematic overview of the transport phenomena (space- and timescales, function and role) critical to the function of all living organisms will be presented. Fundamental conservation laws (mass, momentum and energy), specific constitutive laws of transport phenomena (Newton, Fourier, Fick, etc.) will be applied to biological processes.
