Dersin Tanımı

This course is an examination of Neoclassical artworks that
represent scenes depicted in ancient philosophical and
mythological literature. Neoclassical art is characterized by
great attention to detail in depicting ancient literary scenes,
as well as diverging from them, often to present a contemporary
philosophical or political method. The course therefore
presents and examines neoclassical artworks alongside ancient
literary texts with the intention of examining them for
accuracy and to seek the meaning in intentional variances
between the artworks and their literary sources.
