Course Objectives
This course aims,
1. to provide students with knowledge of the concept of “city” in general; and in particular of the city in which they carry out university education and that has an important place in the history of civilization.
2. to evoke the stimulus to look to that unique city from different perspectives.
3. to provide the students to create the communication with the city where they live in.
4. to develop their familiarity with the city through the visits to the museums and various sites.
Course Description
This course attempts to give basic culture on artistic, sociological and historical development of this unique city. During that course, students will have information about art, history and social life of Istanbul since its foundation: Ancient Greek, Roman, East Roman, Ottoman and Republican eras.
Course Outcomes
Students who complete the course will be able to;
I. have a complete knowledge about the artistic, historical and social development of Istanbul.
II. embrace and be willing to understand, to tell and to conserve the city where they live in.
III. generate an observing and curious look for their environment.
