Course Objectives This course aims;
1. to equip students in engineering majors with general knowledge of art and culture,
2. to define names, terms and concepts that belong to different eras and styles in art history,
3. to examine what makes an artifact a work of art,
4. to criticize the work of art and discuss its aesthetic values.
Course Description Art and Interpretation, is rather than a course of history, it compares not only art forms and movements from prehistoric times to date but also interprets them in terms of their relations with science, economics and common beliefs and standpoints of their era.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to;
I. acquire a basic knowledge on plastic arts,
II. gain the skill to compare and interpret various forms of art,
III. gain knowledge on past and present art’s relations vis-à-vis science, economy and society,
IV. enhance their theoretical knowledge via practical fieldtrips in which they visit art galleries and museums.
