Course Objectives
This course aims,
1. to have the students gain general knowledge and insight about the art of sculpture,
2. to define the styles, terms, and concepts peculiar to the art of sculpture,
3. to explain the different materials and techniques which have been implemented during the process of
transforming the design to the sculpture up to present,
4. to have the students gain knowledge about Turkish Sculpture,
5. to have students perceive the relationship between the sculpture and the environment, the presentation
and the protection of the sculpture, in public places,
6. to acquaint the students with the museums and the exhibited artworks.
Course Description
The aesthetics and technical information on the art of sculpture, which is the three-dimensional section of
the productions that have been denominated as works of art from past to present, will be transferred while
the assets surrounding the relationship between the sculpture and the environment will be interpreted, and
the evolution of the Turkish Sculpture will be surveyed within this context.
Course Outcomes
Students who pass the course will be able to:
I. have a general and thorough knowledge about the art of sculpture.
II. differentiate the similarities and differences between the sculpture and the other art forms.
III. comprehend the relationship between the three-dimensional artworks and science (also technology).
IV. gain information about the importance and statue of the Turkish sculpture in contemporary art.
V. be aware of and sensitive to the protection of the artworks in public places.
VI. gain a skill of interpreting the three-dimensional artworks in museums, art galleries, and public places
with the help of the given homework.
