SNT 114 - Contemporary Art

Course Objectives

This course aims,
1. to comprehend the position of post-modernity against modernity,
2. to scrutinize the names, terms and notions of certain art periods and styles in order to provide
the students with an intellectual point of view,
3. to let the students acquire a basic information on the contemporary art where they could use
them to understand the age that they live in.

Course Description

Origins of contemporary art, the development process of contemporary art (from the point of
origin till today), analyzing examples of artworks and their expression of actual themes and
concepts, evaluating the relation of art and history, artworks within the concept of art movements
and art since 1960.
