Course Objectives This course aims,
1. to provide a comprehension of theatre art in its historical context and perceiving its contemporary practices,
2. to improve the imagination of students via exercises, encouraging them to think about their corporal movements and being capable of transferring feelings and thoughts to physical expression consciously,
3. to consolidate the students’ self-confidence by encouraging them on acting and speaking in front of audiences,
4. to stir up the students for artistic productions based upon their interests,
5. to provide an artistic perspective for the students to support their research and practices in their fields of study and interest,
6. to provide becoming more sensitive about art, society and environment.
Course Description In this course, the roots and archaic forms of theatre, how it is shaped up throughout history in different cultures and the basic elements used for creating the aesthetics of theatre will be introduced. How theatre enriches the life and improves one’s imagination and critical thinking will be questioned via discussions and in-class exercises.
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to:
1. become a self-conscious spectator and can evaluate a theatre play objectively,
2. Learn to consider and analyze an event, situation or attitude in its context,
3. Express themselves efficiently and improve their skills on social relations and cooperation,
4. Be more aware of the social aspects of the roles they play in everyday life.
