Course Objectives		The objectives are to give a general knowledge about fashion in historical context; to evaluate the creative role of fashion through a practitioner-designer perspective; to teach design principles within fashion design, to teach fashion illustration basics; to teach using fashion illustration as a design tool; to provide the skill of initiating a fashion design project with the means of design principles knowledge and fashion illustration skills; to provide a conceptual framework for a project.
Course Description		This course gives a general basis about the historical context of fashion, how the idea of cloth design might have started and developed. The assesment of artistic and societal factors in the development of fashion is supplied to the students in a critical manner. It is encouraged that students make their own research in order them to learn the subjects better. A skill for making sketches of cloth is provided and a basic approach to fashion illustration is exercised with weekly assignments.
