Course Objectives
Students who pass the course will be able to,
I. identify the narrative, visual, and aural elements of films, II. differentiate film types and genres,
III. learn the major stages in making a film,
IV. appraise the effect of editing over the filmic content, V. improve their creativity and decision-making skills, VI. use filmic tools in their professional development,
VII. recall and evaluate the history of cinema and current Turkish cinema, VIII. critically discuss about and analyze films.
Course Description
This class serves as an introduction to film art. Technical and contextual aspects of a film, genres
and film types, film history and contemporary Turkish cinema will be introduced through exemplary film screenings, in-class exercises and discussions.
